Harry Freeman Memorial
Farewell Dad
10/13/16 11:45
My father, Harry Freeman, passed away Sept. 27th, 2016 at age 89. He was a devoted father and husband who would have celebrated his 69th wedding anniversary this month. He was in the army for a short time at the end of WWll. Along with help from the GI bill, he worked his way through college playing the saxophone and clarinet in area big bands, earning a degree in civil engineering from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. My father was a very big supporter of my music! He was the son of home builder Ron Freeman, who was also a drummer and local band leader. Following college dad worked for Foster Smatana and Lueder Construction, then owned Freeman Construction Company for over 25 years. He loved to fly small airplanes, enjoyed playing golf, was a member of Golden K (Kiwanis) and the "Over the Hill Gang" that included several prominent members from Omaha.
We had a memorial for him on Oct. 3rd, at Countryside Church, which he helped build. There was music I played with a trio, lots of photos, and good memories. Although very sad I think we had a nice send off for him. Farewell Dad! –Mike Freeman
